Jessica works with both employers and employees navigating wrongful dismissals, constructive dismissals, terminations, advising on employment standards, employment contracts, human rights, harassment and discrimination claims.
In her litigation practice, Jessica has appeared successfully before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Jessica also conducts thorough workplace investigations in all areas of employment law including sexual harassment, conflict of interest, theft, bullying, and psychological and/or personal harassment.
Prior to joining Heeney Lawyers, Jessica summered and articled with an international full-service law firm in downtown Toronto, where she focused on labour, employment and human rights.
Notable Cases:
Jessica is a graduate of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. During her time at Dalhousie, Jessica spent a term working at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service and volunteered with the Immigration Services Association of Nova Scotia.
Prior to law school, she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University, where she graduated on the Dean’s Honours List.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys alpine skiing, Pilates, live music and exploring Toronto’s restaurant scene.
