Junaid Malik is a senior associate at Heeney Lawyers, practicing in all areas of employment law. Junaid represents employers and employees, placing emphasis on a results-oriented approach. He has extensive experience advising clients on workplace disputes which arise at the end of the employment relationship, in addition to human rights, harassment, and discrimination-based disputes. Junaid also supports his clients with his advisory expertise at the outset of the employment relationship and on an on-going basis. This entails reviewing and drafting employment agreements, workplace policies, and advice tailored to the client's specific business needs and objectives.
Before joining Heeney Lawyers, Junaid was an associate at a full-service national law firm in downtown Toronto, where he focused on employment and human rights law.
Junaid holds a JD from Queen's University, where he was an active mooter: in his first year, he was a finalist in the Hicks Morley Moot Competition. Junaid also spent a semester in his third year at the University of Groningen studying subjects such as comparative private international law and comparative social security law.
Outside of his practice, Junaid is active in the legal community. He is a former Director of the Peel Law Association, where he spear-headed a mentorship program for young lawyers, among other community-based initiatives.
In his spare time, Junaid is an avid hobbyist photographer. He likes to capture moments with friends, family, and whenever he is abroad.
